Mount Fuji
A private journey to Mount Fuji, designed around your day — with a private car, English-speaking driver-guide, and a carefully paced itinerary.
A slower Nikko — a proper look at Toshogu and its quieter neighbour Taiyuinbyo, the thunder of Kegon Falls, and the still water and back-country trails around Lake Chuzenji.
The same UNESCO shrine town as our standard Nikko day, taken at half the pace — one temple complex explored in full rather than several seen quickly, and an extra hour in the highlands around the lake. Priced per person rather than per group, so it suits solo travellers and couples as well as families.
Approximate times for a clear day. Your guide reorders freely for traffic, light and closures.
8 stops 10–11 hours door to door All drive time, tolls & parking included
North on the Tohoku Expressway, timed to reach Toshogu as the gates open.
Shrine · ~2 hrs
The full mausoleum complex at a proper pace — the Yomeimon gate, the sleeping cat, the three monkeys and the climb to Ieyasu's tomb — plus Taiyuinbyo next door, Iemitsu's smaller, quieter, often near-empty mausoleum in the same style.
Bridge · ~15 min
A last look at the sacred vermilion bridge over the Daiya river on the way out of town.
Own account · ~60 min
Yuba, the local tofu-skin speciality, or soba.
Waterfall · ~45 min
97 metres of water off the edge of Lake Chuzenji, this time with the elevator down to the base pool included.
Lake · ~60 min
A slow lakeside walk, or a short cruise across the water with Mt Nantai behind it — your call on the day.
Nature · ~45 min
A pair of cascades where the Yukawa river splits around a rock, then a boardwalk out onto the high marsh of Senjogahara — usually skipped on the standard day for time.
A later finish than the standard Nikko day, in exchange for the extra hour at the lake and the marsh.
Rain rarely cancels anything — your guide simply reorders the stops. We only recommend moving the date for a storm or typhoon warning, with no penalty.

“Travelling alone, I did not want to pay a full group rate — this let me see Nikko properly at my own pace, priced fairly for one.”

“Taiyuinbyo with almost no one else there was the highlight, and the marsh boardwalk afterwards was a lovely surprise.”

It trades breadth for depth — one shrine complex explored fully (including Taiyuinbyo, which the standard day skips) and an extra hour in the highlands at Ryuzu Falls and Senjogahara, rather than covering Futarasan as well.
It runs at a gentler, more flexible pace better suited to smaller parties, so we price it per seat — from ¥21,000 per person rather than a flat group rate. The car and guide are still private to your party.
Yes — it is one of the few Jano days built with solo travellers and couples in mind, alongside families.
Yes — green and quiet in summer, stark and empty in winter. Autumn (mid-October) adds the colour but also the crowds on the boardwalk.
