Mount Fuji
A private journey to Mount Fuji, designed around your day — with a private car, English-speaking driver-guide, and a carefully paced itinerary.
A volcanic bowl in the mountains south-west of Tokyo, long the first night's stop on the old road to Kyoto. Open-air sculpture, steaming vents, a shrine gate in the water and — on a clear day — Fuji across the lake. Priced per enquiry because most guests pair it with an onsen stop or a ryokan night.
Approximate times for a clear day. Your guide reorders freely for traffic, light and closures.

South-west toward the mountains and the old Tokaido road.
Museum · ~60 min
Sculpture across a hillside lawn with the mountains behind — Henry Moore, a stained-glass tower, and a pavilion of Picasso ceramics.
Volcanic valley · ~45 min
The sulphur valley left by Hakone's last eruption — boardwalks between the steam vents, and black eggs boiled in the springs, said to add seven years of life.
Own account · ~60 min
A lakeside restaurant, often with the torii in view.
Shrine · ~45 min
The vermilion gate standing in the water below cedar forest, and the shrine steps climbing behind it.
Viewpoint · ~40 min
A wooded promontory with, on a clear day, Fuji framed across the lake — and a surviving stretch of the old cedar avenue nearby.
Or your ryokan, if you'd rather stay in the mountains.
Rain rarely cancels anything — your guide simply reorders the stops. We only recommend moving the date for a storm or typhoon warning, with no penalty.

“We asked for art plus an onsen and that is exactly what we got, planned to the minute, with the torii at golden hour to finish.”

Yes — this is why the tour is priced per enquiry. Tell us your dates and budget and we'll build in a day-use onsen, or a night at a ryokan with the drive continuing the next day.
From the lake's south end and Onshi Park on a clear, dry day — best in autumn and winter mornings. It is often hazy; your guide will be straight with you about the odds.
The Fuji tour gets you close to the mountain itself; Hakone is about the caldera — art, hot springs, the lake and the torii — with Fuji as a backdrop rather than the subject.
Because most Hakone days are customised — an onsen stop, a ryokan night, or a one-way finish toward Kyoto — so a fixed group price rarely fits. You will still get a firm quote before anything is booked.
